What Does Clean Skincare Mean? | SIMPURE

Here at SIMPURE, clean beauty is our mission. We never use cheap, toxic chemicals or preservatives to achieve what natural ingredients can do. Sourcing and researching the best ingredients for our products has allowed us to earn the title of being a clean skincare company. We’re sure you have heard of the different titles to describe skincare, such as “clean” and “natural”, but did you know that they mean different things? Let’s dive into what each means.

What is Considered Clean Skincare?

Clean skincare means that every ingredient is completely free from harsh chemicals, such as toxic parabens, sulfates, synthetics, and phthalates. Although “clean” is an unregulated term, we take it very seriously and ensure our products will not harm you or the environment, while enhancing your skin and addressing any concerns you may have.

Clean beauty should be the standard for your skincare routine since chemical products have been proven to link with health problems including endocrine disruption and even cancer.

To earn the title of clean beauty, brands do not only account for the inside of your products, but must also take into consideration their packaging and ingredient sourcing. We have made sure to find product packaging that is recycled, recyclable and eco-friendly. All of our ingredients are also sustainably sourced.

For beauty products to be considered “clean” they must be

  • Cruelty free
  • Eco-friendly
  • Plant-derived
  • Safe for the consumer and the environment
  • Sustainably sourced
  • Vegan

SIMPURE proudly checks all of those boxes.

What is Considered Natural Skincare?

Natural skincare can be claimed by any product that features natural ingredients, even if it is combined with toxic chemicals. These products are unregulated and “organic” is a very loose term to use. For example, a product could be largely made of water, combined with parabens and sulfates and labeled natural, just due to the main ingredient being water.

It is important to check your product’s ingredients rather than rely on  packaging and marketing. You want to make sure you are using sustainably sourced, eco-friendly, and cruelty-free ingredients to improve your skin while positively impacting the environment.

Why is Clean Skincare Important?

Clean skincare has been on the rise for many years and brands are challenged to be fully transparent on what they are putting into their products. Clean products are important to your endocrine system, which regulates your mood, metabolism, and reproductive process. Parabens are found to disrupt this system by using their microscopic size to alter hormone levels and behaviors. The long term effects of endocrine disruption include birth defects, cancer, and metabolic and reproductive issues.

Some products can go as far as using formaldehyde, a chemical that is used in fertilizer, as an ingredient. They of course will never label this as an ingredient, but will use the commonly unknown scientific formula “2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3 diol (bronopol); diazolidinyl urea; DMDM hydantoin; imidazolidinyl urea; sodium hydroxymethylglycinate; and quaternium-15”.

At SIMPURE, we strive to use ingredients that you recognize and can actually pronounce. There are no secrets here, and we hope to see that be the industry standard soon. There is no reason for any toxic chemicals to be in products that directly harm not only our outside appearance, but also our bodily systems.

What Clean Ingredients Should You Look For?

The first thing you should check for in your ingredient list is the ability to pronounce each. Some of our favorites that we use in many of our products include:

  • Shea Butter
  • Vitamin C
  • Glycerin
  • Green Tea Extract
  • Niacinamide
  • Squalane
  • Witch Hazel

The list of amazing natural ingredients goes on and on.

Here is a list of ingredients that you should definitely avoid:

  • CETEARETH GLYCOL
  • DMDM HYDANTOIN
  • EDTA
  • ETHANOLAMINES
    • Monoethanolamine
    • Diethanolamine
    • Triethanolamine
    • Ethanolamine
  • PARABEN
    • (Methyl-, Propyl-, Butyl-, Ethyl-Paraben)

And unfortunately, that list goes on and on as well.

Benefits of Using Clean Skincare

Not only will you see amazing, nearly immediate results using clean beauty products such as Niacinamide, Vitamins A, B3, C and E, Squalane, Rosehip oil, etc., but you will also get to experience long term effects as well. Your skin will not become damaged from parabens, your health will not suffer from toxins, and your natural beauty will ultimately shine through.

Overall, the most important part of clean beauty is YOU. Your health, inside and out, is the number one priority at SIMPURE. We promise to always have you at the forefront of our mind when creating new products, as we have with our current inventory.
